Five Minute Friday: Grasp
Another day, another dollar.
Or on this blog, another Friday, another Five Minute Friday post!
Only 4 more weeks before I'll be sitting on the floor of some conference room in Harrisburg writing this post IN REAL LIFE with a bunch of other Allume "Five Minute Friday" bloggers :D How fun is that going to be? I'll be the one in her pjs fighting home sickness, missing her family and trying to act like staying up late is no big deal.
(A quick pause to say Happy Birthday to the wonderful Alia at Narrow Paths to Higher Places! If you're visiting from Five Minute Friday, go leave her some birthday love!)
Today's prompt: GRASP
The words don't come easily. This call that I feel God has put on my heart to write.
But not just write a blog post or a letter. An email would be easy. A card in the mail would be fine. No, this writing? This call? I'm grasping.
A call to write a worship song.
I "manage" the band my husband is in, and they are amazing. But lately I've wanted to give them something to share, a piece of where I am, we are, in this journey God has us on. There is pressure in writing something that expresses your heart for God in a way that others can relate to, but can also sing.
I grasp at words, Scripture, phrases, experiences, dreams - it all floats by, waiting to be wrangled into some kind of submission and made into a beautiful offering to the One who created with a Word. The One who is Word.
So I write. And there is music put to it and it stays in my head for days after the listening and I simply don't know what to do with this song except let it go. Open the hand I've grasped tightly around the lyrics and give it all back to God to use for His glory.
